As the Coronavirus pandemic grips countries across the world, there is widespread fear and panic as well as massive disruptions and dislocations. In India, due to the outbreak of COVID-19, many around the country been affected. We are facing emergency lockdowns to prevent the further spread of the disease. People in underprivileged communities are facing shortages of food and shelter, medicines and masks.

One of the worst hit states is that of Maharashtra, with Mumbai city alone affecting many vulnerable families and individuals. While business have reopened, we foresee that it will take time until the end of 2020 for the situation to stabilize.
Ratna Nidhi is responding to the COVID-19 crisis by providing hot nutritious khichdi's and pickle to the daily-wage workers until the situation stabilizes in Mumbai city. These are the groups who are worst affected by the pandemic. Our work on ground also highlights a continued need to provide food to these daily-wage workers as the many of them have lost their income source and have families to feed at home.

Ratna Nidhi prepares the nutritious meals at its kitchen. On a daily basis, we are serving close to 10,000 khichdi meals to the daily-wage workers. The meals packed hygienically into containers and transported to the identified beneficiary groups in the city with the help of hired tempos, which are provided with a route map for delivery, which begins at 10 am in the morning and ends at 6 pm in the evening.
We have served over 8 lakh meals as on 17th July 2020 and strive to continue serving more people.

Ratna Nidhi has an extensive network within the communities in Mumbai owing to our work in the past. Making use of this network, we are able to distribute food to several locations across Mumbai through the members of the community and NGO’s on ground.

As a result of this intervention the project will ensure daily sustenance for the daily wage and sanitation workers in the city.

We seek to continue this project till the end of this year and are capable to deliver close to 10,000 meals on daily basis under this program.

We have served over 8 lakh meals as on 17th July 2020 and strive to scale and reach more daily wage workers.

We would like to continue this good work and feeding the needy ones. We would be happy to collaborate and work with you. We seek your support for this good cause.
